As a manufacturer of fine high-purity oxides for demanding industries, we aim at reducing the environmental footprint of our activities while contributing to more sustainable technologies, such as oxide-oxide ceramic matrix composites (Ox\/Ox CMCs) solutions.<\/p>\n<h2>Our Environmental and Energy Policy<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"130\">The French industrial sector, including the chemical industry, accounts for around 20% of France\u2019s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.<strong> Industrial decarbonization<\/strong> is a key objective of the France 2030 plan, which aims to reduce <strong>GHG emissions<\/strong> in this sector by 35% between 2015 and 2030.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"284\" data-end=\"609\">As a responsible industrial company, Baikowski is fully aligned with this\u00a0 approach\u00a0to help preserve the environment while ensuring the long-term sustainability of its business model.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2023, our environmental and energy policy has been structured around 4 pillars:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong>Reducing our carbon footprint<\/strong><\/span> by decarbonizing our processes, constantly improving our production processes and the energy efficiency of our equipment,<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong>Acting on our water, gas and electricity consumptions,<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li>Establishing our <strong><span style=\"color: #339966;\">\u201cWater Efficiency Plan\u201d,<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong>Improving the recovery and use of our waste<\/strong><\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>The ABC Project: A New Low-Carbon Alumina Manufacturing Route<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-8837 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.baikowski.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/FRANCE-2030-BAIKOWSKI-250x300.jpg\" alt=\"Baikowski\u00ae Wins FRANCE 2030 Plan for Alumina Decarbonization\" width=\"286\" height=\"343\" \/>Baikowski\u2019s environmental policy includes the development of <strong>new manufacturing routes<\/strong>. After completing a <strong>Carbon Balance\u00ae assessment<\/strong> in 2022, Baikowski was selected by<strong> ADEME<\/strong> to carry out an in-depth study of its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baikowski.com\/en\/awardee-of-expedite-the-industrial-transition\/\"><strong>energy mix<\/strong><\/a> in order to identify the most relevant levers for decarbonizing its activities.<\/p>\n<p>In 2024, Baikowski\u2019s ABC project<strong> (<em>Alumine Bas Carbone<\/em> \/ Low-Carbon Alumina)<\/strong> was selected as a winner of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baikowski.com\/en\/baikowski-wins-france-2030-plan-for-alumina-decarbonization\/\">France 2030 call for projects<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The project is led by a consortium bringing together <strong>Baikowski, ECM Technologies, Saint-Gobain<\/strong> and <strong>the Institut Charles Gerhardt Montpellier (ICGM<\/strong>) to address growing demand for low-carbon alumina while opening up new opportunities for advanced composite materials with enhanced properties for sectors such as aerospace and energy.<\/p>\n<p>This innovation is based on a fully electrified route designed to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The process relies on the use of a microwave pilot developed in collaboration with <strong>SAIREM<\/strong>, a specialist in industrial microwave and radio-frequency applications, together with the development of a<strong> new furnace by ECM Technologies,<\/strong> based on the modular and flexible technology of its ICBP Flex furnace.<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2>Measurable Progress Already Achieved<\/h2>\n<p>This policy is backed by measurable results. Between 2015 and 2021, the company reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by more than <strong>25%.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"184\">Water is also essential to our production process, whether for alum manufacturing, gas and equipment cooling, or steam generation. That is why we are committed to using it responsibly. In line with this purpose, our Poisy site in France had already achieved a sustained<strong> 20% reduction in water consumption<\/strong> by 2024, thanks to new technologies that optimize the way we use water.$<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2>Supporting Sustainable Technologies with Advanced Oxides<\/h2>\n<p>At Baikowski, we see low-carbon commitment not only as a matter of compliance, but as a long-term industrial strategy that supports the development of more sustainable materials.
